$10,000 for flood-impacted Kangaroo Valley businesses

The grant helps businesses seriously impacted by prolonged road closures

19 August, 2022

Flood-impacted small businesses and not-for-profits in Kangaroo Valley can now apply for a $10,000 grant.

Many Kangaroo Valley businesses suffered significant financial losses due to prolonged road closures following the February-March 2022 flood event.

The Kangaroo Valley Road Closure Small Business Support Grant, which is jointly funded by the Commonwealth and NSW governments, is open to small businesses and not-for-profits that experienced a 40 per cent decline in turnover during the fourth quarter of the 2021-22 financial year, compared to the same period in the 2020-21 financial year.

The extreme weather had a devastating impact on road infrastructure across the region, which in turn imposed serious financial and logistical challenges on small businesses.

The NSW Small Business Commission advocated strongly for dedicated support for these businesses given their unique circumstances.  “It has been very tough for many small businesses in the Kangaroo Valley and we hope this financial assistance will provide some relief,” NSW Small Business Commissioner Chris Lamont said.

To learn more and apply for the grant, businesses and not-for-profits can visit the Service NSW website or call 13 77 88.
