19 April, 2023
NSW Small Business Minister the Hon Steve Kamper MP today met with NSW Small Business Commissioner Chris Lamont where they discussed key issues and opportunities for the State’s 842,000 small businesses.
Mr Kamper was elected to the New South Wales Legislative Assembly as the Member for Rockdale in 2015 and has a very strong background in small business, previously running his own accountancy and advisory firm. In addition to being the Minister for Small Business, Minister Kamper also has ministerial responsibility for Lands and Property, Multiculturalism and Sport.
In their first meeting the Minister and Commissioner discussed the operating environment for small businesses, some of the key small business policy issues and priorities of the NSW Government.
Minister Kamper said he was looking forward to working with the Commissioner to support the State’s small businesses.
“The small businesses of NSW contribute more than $424.9 billion to annual sales and service income and employ some 1.8 million people so they are vitally important to our State,” Mr Kamper said.
Mr Lamont welcomed Minister Kamper and commented that the Minister’s significant business experience and understanding of the key issues faced by small businesses were great assets for the important role.
