Boost to mediation and small business support services

Additional funding will provide ongoing support for small businesses as they recover from COVID-19

22 June, 2022

The NSW Small Business Commission has received additional funding in the 2022-23 NSW Budget to boost mediation and other small business support services. The funding provides ongoing, enhanced support over the next four years.

NSW Small Business Commissioner Chris Lamont said many small businesses had benefitted from mediation and the expanded suite of services provided by the Commission over the last two years.

“The Commission received a record number of requests for support in 2021 and we expect this to be another busy year.

“More small businesses are now aware of the mediation service and the other services provided by the Small Business Commission. This additional funding will assist the Commission in providing ongoing support to meet their needs,” Mr Lamont said.

Other Budget measures for small business included:

  • the NSW Government’s Business Connect program, which offers a free business coaching service, received funding to provide dedicated services to women-led small businesses.
  • $2 million will be made available to industry associations and chambers of commerce to run professional networking programs for women in small business.
