Family business recognised for community contribution
8 May, 2024
The NSW Small Business Commissioner, Chris Lamont, congratulates the Purtill Group from Deniliquin for its long-standing support of its workers who are on-call firefighters.
Purtill Group received a Primary Employer Recognition Award by Fire and Rescue NSW Commissioner, Jeremy Fewtrell, as part of its St Florian’s Day ceremony at City of Sydney Fire Station on Saturday 4 May. St Florian's Day is celebrated as a day of remembrance to pay tribute for the enduring sacrifice of current and former firefighters.
For more than three decades, the Purtill Group has been instrumental in supporting on-call firefighters in Deniliquin, allowing them to participate in critical emergency responses and disaster recovery efforts, such as the 2009 Black Saturday and 2019/20 Black Summer bushfires.
This recognition underscores the importance of preparing for unforeseen challenges.
The NSW Small Business Commission offers tools and resources to help develop these plans. Our business continuity planning tool provides a comprehensive guide to help businesses assess their risks and prepare effectively.
"Investing time in preparing a business continuity plan can make a significant difference in how quickly and effectively a business can recover from disruption," Lamont emphasised. "We encourage all small businesses to utilise the resources available to safeguard their operations."
