The construction industry is one of NSW’s biggest sectors and subcontractors or “subbies” are critical to its success. As with any business sector, problems can arise including not being paid on time (or at all), running out of cash, and contract issues. A new fact sheet from the Commission provides tips and advice to help you get paid and protect your business. 

Top tips to protect your business:

• Have a written contract before you start work
• Do your due diligence 
• Secure your interests 
• Progress payments 
• Get any revisions and changes in writing
• Keep good records
• Manage your invoices well
• If not paid on time, take action quickly
