July update from the Commissioner
25 July, 2023
There is no doubt the current economic climate is tough for small businesses and households alike. The Commission’s June survey shows small business confidence continuing to moderate.
Consequently, demand for the Commission’s support and assistance remains high, as reflected in the number of calls to the Commission from small businesses and the number of applications for mediation we receive.
In this newsletter we feature a podcast with journalist and entrepreneur Erin Molan, who highlights how important persistence and tenacity is to business success. Erin also talks about the importance of small business owners taking care of themselves during what is an extremely challenging time.
There are only a few days left for business chambers, industry associations, not for profits and local councils to apply for a Small Business Month grant. Applications close 9am Tuesday 1 August.
The theme for NSW Small Business Month 2023 has been designed to place the needs of small business owners and operators at the forefront by providing events that will aid them in strengthening their business across seven key areas:
- My Small Business Brand
- My Small Business Cyber Security
- My Small Business Health
- My Small Business Online
- My Small Business Resilience
- My Small Business Team
- My Small Business Trade.
Larger businesses and organisations are also encouraged to get involved by becoming a collaboration partner.
