March update from the Commissioner
Support for flood hit businesses and mediation provisions extended
21 March, 2022
Like all of us I have been deeply saddened by the impact the NSW floods have had on so many individuals and small businesses. I am currently visiting the flood-affected region and hope to talk to as many small businesspeople as possible about their challenges and how the Commission and governments can help.
I encourage all impacted businesses to review the support and assistance available and to continue to review our website to make sure you stay up to date. If you have a problem specific to your business and can’t get assistance, call our customer support team.
A reminder that applications close on 31 March for the Small Business Support Package, which was launched to help businesses seriously impacted by the Omicron wave.
It’s clear that many businesses have yet to shake off the impact of COVID, so I was happy to see the NSW Government extend compulsory mediation provisions for commercial leases until 30 June 2022.
Finally, I hope you will draw inspiration and strength from our podcast on Susan Galvin, who launched her watchmaking business in March 2020.
