May update from the Commissioner
The need for small business support remains high
17 May, 2023
It was my pleasure to speak recently with the head of the Canterbury-Bankstown Chamber of Commerce, Wally Mehanna. We talked about the experiences of small businesses in his area of southwest Sydney and the role industry bodies like his can play in nurturing new businesses and building links between small businesses, government, education providers and big industry. You can listen to the conversation in our latest podcast.
The Commission is still seeing strong demand for its support services, particularly mediation to resolve disputes and assistance with retail lease issues. We will continue to closely monitor the experience of small businesses through our survey and tailor our support and advocacy work accordingly.
In this edition of the newsletter, NSW Small Business Minister Steve Kamper introduces himself and identifies some of the plans and initiatives of the NSW Government.
Finally, don’t forget to register for one of our free Winning Business workshops starting next week. If you want to learn how to get involved in contracting in either the private or public sector, these events, guided by an experienced presenter, are a great place to start.
