Optus phone and internet network outage

Businesses are advised to retain proof of any loss

8 November, 2023

Optus customers have been affected by an outage to its mobile network, fixed line network, and overseas roaming since the early hours of Wednesday 8 November, with reports the Optus wholesale network is also impacted.

As of 2pm, some services across fixed and mobile were reportedly gradually being restored.

If you have contacted Optus and you are unhappy with the response, you can make a complaint with the Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman.

If you have not contacted Optus, or you have been unable to contact them, the Ombudsman can forward your complaint to Optus on your behalf.

The Ombudsman can help you with refunds for the time you have been unable to use your service, compensation claims and disputes about your contract.

Small businesses are advised to retain documentary proof of any loss (receipts etc.)

The Small Business Commission’s customer contact centre is unaffected by the outage.

The Service NSW Contact Centre (including Service for Business) number 13 77 88 is temporarily unavailable, so alternative contact numbers have been established. Please see the Service NSW website for details on the alternative numbers.
