Prepare your business for local construction works

New guide will help you minimise any impacts on trading

With NSW in the middle of an infrastructure boom, a new guide from the Small Business Commissioner is well timed to help businesses minimise the impacts of local construction works on their trade and customers.

Preparing for local construction works: a guide for small business owners is a step-by-step guide on how to minimise the impacts of disruptions, such as altered pedestrian access and noise issues.

It contains a checklist of activities businesses can complete to prepare for the start of works and respond to issues during construction.

The guide encourages small businesses to begin taking action as soon as they become aware of planned construction activity and ensure they are informed about the nature and timing of the project. It also assists small businesses to put a plan in place to deal with any disruption and offers tips to help them communicate their needs to construction and local authorities.

“The construction guide has been designed to help businesses and those undertaking construction to work collaboratively to minimise disruption and the short-term impacts on small businesses,” NSW Small Business Commissioner Chris Lamont said.

The guide can be downloaded from the NSW Small Business Commissioner’s website.
