From the Small Business Minister
I understand the challenges of owning and running a business
12 May, 2023
As a previous business owner, I am thrilled to now be representing the Small Business community in the NSW Government.
Steve Kamper, Minister for Small Business
I have previously owned and operated a range of business, including my family accounting firm founded by my father, which I ran successfully with my brother for 30 years.
I understand the challenges of owning and running a business and as Minister for Small Business, I want to be your colleague. I want to support businesses.
Our Government will aim to provide guidance and support when you need it, opportunity when you ask for it, and a voice when you need to be heard.
We want to engage with small businesses and give you back your voice.
That’s why we are committed to creating a Small Business Charter to codify our commitments and ensure that small businesses have a seat at the table in government.
We will create the NSW Business Bureau which will support small businesses in navigating regulation and processes, remove barriers and provide business across the state with timely assistance.
We will boost our small business procurement targets from 12 per cent to 30 per cent. This will mean more money flowing direct from government into our small businesses.
We will create the NSW Jobs First Commission which will provide independent and expert advice on how we can grow our local industries.
We are committed to small businesses and we are ready to work hand-in-hand to deliver for the people of this State.
