Small businesses contribute more to NSW economy

Their economic value to the State has risen despite the pandemic

NSW small businesses have increased their contribution to the NSW economy despite the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Recently released data shows that in the year to June 2021, the number of NSW small businesses increased 4.1 per cent to almost 800,000.

The number of people the sector employed grew by 136,000 and the amount paid in wages grew to $63.7 billion.

The sector’s contribution to sales and service income also increased, from $414 billion to 425 billion.
